The relief map of Ypres (1702) from the Lille Museum of Fine Art.

The city of Ypres was almost entirely destriyed during the First World War (1914 - 1918). Chemical weapons were used in the early stages of the war. Mustard gas, so named because of its smell, is also called Yperite, after the city of Ypres where it was used for the first time in combat in 1915. At the end of the conflict, the town officials in Ypres carefully studied the relief map made in 1702 before starting the reconstruction of its historic centre. The relief map is a silent witness of a past once destroyed and has served different purposes throughout its existence.

Map dimensions: 6.51 x 5.47 M = 36 m2 (12 tables !).
Scale : 1/600

The Paris Gun (Paris-Geschütz) scale model from Wehrtechnische Studiensammlung Koblenz (Germany)

The Paris Gun (Paris-Geschütz) scale model from Wehrtechnische Studiensammlung Koblenz (Germany) The Paris Gun (Paris-Geschütz / Pariser Kanone) was the name given to a type of German long-range siege gun, several of which were used to bombard Paris during World War I. They were in service from March to August 1918. When the guns were first employed, Parisians believed they had been bombed by a high-altitude Zeppelin, as the sound of neither an aeroplane nor a gun could be heard. They were the largest pieces of artillery used during the war by barrel length, and are considered to be superguns.

War Game (2002) by Dave Unwin - Exclusive Full Animated Film

Based on the picture book by Michael Foreman, WAR GAME tells the story of Will, Lacey and Freddie – three young Suffolk lads who leave their idyllic country lives to fight in the trenches of World War I. Surrounded by the chaos and confusion of war, they can only dream of their football team, their friends and the families they have left behind. On Christmas Day 1914 however, a football game is started between the Germans and the English. Scrambling onto No Man’s Land, the men come face to face with the enemy they have never seen and the true futility of their fight. For a brief moment - differences are forgotten, the men unite and the seeds of hope are planted. But joy has no place in war and the men are soon recalled to the trenches to continue the battle. From a football game in the fields of Suffolk to a football game in the heart of Flanders - WAR GAME follows the realisation of three young men’s ambitions to play for England and the ability of the human spirit to exist even in the harshest conditions. Featuring a powerful and moving sound track from the composer Julian Nott, and including Kate Winslet on the voice track. WAR GAME has 18 won awards worldwide including: The British Animation Awards; The Pulcinella Award, Italy; Best Television Special - Annecy International Animated Film Festival, France; BANFF International Television Festival, Canada; Tokyo Kinder Film Festival, Japan; Best Animation Prize, ANIMA, Argentina.

Visiting Museu Miltar do Porto - CBG Mignot French positions WW1

The material of the museum has two proveniences: particular offers and obsolete material from the Army, with historical relevance. The collection of miniature figures, displaying the evolution of soldiers since pre-history times till nowadays, is the museum's main attraction. This collection is represented by around 16,000 miniatures, proceeding from the most famous producers of European miniatures, such as Britains, CBG Mignot, Segom, Heyde, Elastolin and Lineol.
I found this very nice display of CBG Mignot soldiers showings French trench WW1 positions.

Signal Corps of the Wehrmacht and Waffen SS

The Signal Corps or Nachrichtentruppe des Heeres, in the sense of signal troops, was an arm of service in the army of the German Wehrmacht and Waffen SS, whose role was to establish and operate military communications, especially using telephone and radio networks. By order of the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht dated 14 Oct 1942, it was part of the combat arms of the German Wehrmacht and Waffen SS until 1945.  These photos demonstrate Lineol and Elastolin soldiers from 30s.

Visiting the Kilmainham Gaol ...

Kilmainham Gaol is a former prison in Kilmainham, Dublin, Ireland. The Irish leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising (24–29 April 1916) were imprisoned and executed in the prison by the British.
Most of the executions took place over a ten-day period:
