Visiting Jersey (UK, September 2012)

Jersey has a sublime 3000 year military history from the Bronze and Iron Ages, 750 years of British fortification which ended in WW2 and the German Occupation. The German occupation of the Channel Islands lasted for most of the Second World War, from 30 June 1940 until their liberation on 9 May 1945. The Bailiwick of Jersey and Bailiwick of Guernsey are two British Crown dependencies in the English Channel, near the coast of Normandy. The Channel Islands were the only part of the British Isles to be occupied by the Wehrmacht (German Armed Forces) during the war. Jersey has a plenty of WW2 locations to visit: Jersey War Tunnels - German Underground Hospital, The Channel Islands Military Museum ... During World War II Nazi Germany constructed a considerable number of fortifications in the Channel Islands which form part of the Atlantic Wall. Sharing some of my Jersey's photos...
