Happy Friday Everyone! The  Red Army soldiers produced by Engineer Basevich.

The Second Battle for Kesternich: 30 January - 1 February 1945

The Second Battle for Kesternich (Belgium) took place from 30 January 1945 to 1 February 1945. In the battle, the American 311th Infantry Regiment fought against the 272. Volksgrenadier-Division. This time the offensive was conducted under William H. Simpson's Ninth Army. Over the preceding weeks the volksgrenadiers had infiltrated back into and created strongpoints throughout the village. While this battle was no less a struggle than the earlier battle, the entrenched Germans inside the village could not stave off the unrelenting American attack and the village of Kesternich fell into American hands (Toy Soldiers of San Diego, 21st Century Toys (Jagdpanzer)).

German Army Wehrmacht (Heer) parade ground figures from Elastolin

Elastolin is a trademark used by the German company O&M Hausser (O&M HauĂźer) for the toy soldiers and other types of figures it manufactured from composite material and later from plastic. The Hausser firm was founded in 1904 by Christian Hausser and his sons Otto and Max. The factory was situated in Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart. Elastolin composition figures were manufactured in 40mm (also known as 4-cm), 65mm (6.5-cm), 70mm (7-cm), and 105mm (10.5 cm) scales. Production of all figures (and all other toys) ended after the German economy was put on a "total war" footing in 1943. The Heer, all wearing correct the World War II German uniform, was represented by parade ground figures that included marching officers, marching infantry men, marching flag-carriers (the photoghraphed flag-carrier was actually produced by Lineol) and marching musicians. These original Elastolin solders mase in 30-s are from the Museu Militar do Porto collection.

Officers of the Force Publique: Call of the jungles

The Force Publique was a gendarmerie and military force in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 1885 (when the territory was known as the Congo Free State), through the period of Belgian colonial rule (Belgian Congo – 1908 to 1960). The officers of the Force Publique were entirely European. They comprised a mixture of Belgian regular soldiers and mercenaries from other countries who were drawn by the prospect of wealth or simply attracted to the adventure of service in Africa. These officers of the Force Publique are made by Durso (30s/50s).

Battle of Stalingrad : Last days of the 6th Army (Wehrmacht).

The 6th Army, a field-army unit of the German Wehrmacht during World War II (1939-1945), has become widely remembered for its destruction by the Red Army at the Battle of Stalingrad in the winter of 1942/43. The army surrendered between 31 January and 2 February 1943.German casualties are 147,200 killed and wounded and over 91,000 captured, the latter including 24 generals and 2,500 officers of lesser rank.Only 5,000 would return to Germany after the war.

American Civil War

The American Civil War was a war fought in the United States from 1861 to 1865.The Civil War is the most studied and written about episode in U.S. history.Primarily as a result of the long-standing controversy over the enslavement of black people, war broke out in April 1861 when secessionist forces attacked Fort Sumter in South Carolina shortly after Abraham Lincoln had been inaugurated as the President of the United States. The loyalists of the Union in the North proclaimed support for the Constitution. They faced secessionists of the Confederate States in the South, who advocated for states' rights to uphold slavery.

These unionists and confederates are from different makers (CBG Mignot, Britains and others) (The Museu Mlitar do Porto).
